PRESS STATEMENT

The International Federation for Renewed Catholic Ministry, representing 10 associations of Roman Catholics in seven countries, fully supports the call of the Pfarrer-Initiative in Austria for changes in the ministry of the Roman Catholic Church.

It calls upon Cardinal Christoph Schönborn to be a true shepherd, to listen to the appeal of so many of his clergy and people and to transmit to Rome the views expressed.

We pray that when he meets representatives of the Pfarrer-Initiative on Saturday 10 September his prime concern will be to support the people he was called to serve as bishop and to avoid ecclesiastical punishments.
