As on other occasions, because of the task we have undertaken as the European Network Church on The Move, we reflect on the most central issues at this difficult time for the political and civil life of our continent. They are urgent and important, and we address them on the basis of the profound values that our faith in the Gospel shows us. We do so in the knowledge that we are openly opposing, in the name of our strongly pro-European position, strong interests, constraints, unhealthy international relations and also the sensitivity of a part of public opinion. We resolutely call on the European institutions to take action based on criteria of human fraternity and reason that draw on the best moments and legacies of European history.

We raise three questions:

Come altre volte, per il compito che ci siamo assegnati come European Network Church on The Move, riflettiamo, in questo momento così difficile, sulle questioni più centrali in questo momento per la vita politica e civile del nostro continente. Esse sono urgenti ed importanti, le affrontiamo a partire dai valori profondi che la nostra fede nell’Evangelo ci indica. Lo facciamo ben coscienti di contrastare apertamente, anche in nome della nostra posizione fortemente europeista, forti interessi , vincoli, rapporti internazionali malati e anche la sensibilità di una parte dell’opinione pubblica. Chiediamo con determinazione alle istituzioni europee interventi fondati su criteri di fraternità umana e di ragionevolezza che si richiamino ai momenti e alle eredità migliori della storia dell’Europa.
